Yangdi

Yangdi is located below Yuanyangtan (Mandarin Duck Shoal) on the west bank of the Lijiang River, about 46 kilometers away from Guilin. Behind Yangdi Village, there is a mountain. Its two peaks resemble a pair of inverted goat hooves, and the name Yangdi, which is a homophone of the Chinese characters for "goat hooves," is used as the name of the village. To the north of the village is Jinji Mountain, which looks like a rooster pecking at rice. To the east of the village is Baihu Mountain. A waterfall cascades down from it, and the silver droplets sprinkle all over the river, giving rise to the saying of "The Golden Rooster Pecks at White Rice." In the river, there are two sandbars that look like mandarin ducks playing in the water, hence the name Yuanyangtan (Mandarin Duck Shoal). Below the shoal are the Luogushi (Gong and Drum Stones).

On both banks of Yangdi, there are dense bamboo forests, forming a ten-li-long green screen. Swaying amidst the green mountains, beautiful waters, waterfalls, and shallow shoals, they bring people a sense of tranquility, peace, harmony, and a feeling of being far away from the hustle and bustle. During the dry season, Yangdi is the starting point of the river tour. There is a great deal of activity with crowds of people, and the air is full of excitement. The tranquility and the bustle are wonderfully integrated here.
