The Lingqu Canal

The Lingqu Canal in Xing'an is an ancient water conservancy project of the Qin Dynasty, as renowned as the Dujiangyan Irrigation System. The Lingqu Canal has a total length of 34 kilometers and is divided into the South Canal and the North Canal.

What is well-known to the world is the South Canal, which has a total length of 33.15 kilometers. It makes use of the natural river channel, and only 5 kilometers of it was excavated manually. Although the Lingqu Canal is no longer in use nowadays, the scenes of its past can still be vaguely discerned. During the off-season, there are fewer tourists, making it appear even more tranquil and quaint. You can take a boat and drift along, rent a small tricycle and ride slowly, or wade along the embankment and come into close contact with the stones from the Qin Dynasty... There are also scenic spots such as the Tomb of the Three Generals, the Qin Embankment, the Flying Stone, and the Temple of the Four Worthies.

The North Canal, which is less known to the public, is suitable for friends who are on a self-driving tour to appreciate for free. The North Canal starts from the North Doumen at the tail of the Great Balance and ends where it flows into the Xiangjiang River. Although it is only 4 kilometers long, it is an indispensable waterway connecting the Xiangjiang River and the Lijiang River.
