The Former Residence of Xu Beihong

The Former Residence of Xu Beihong is a single-story brick-wood structure house with three rooms. In the courtyard of the former residence, there is a magnolia tree with an age of 70 years, which exudes a fragrant smell. There is also a statue of Mr. Xu Beihong in the former residence.

In 1936, Xu Beihong visited Yangshuo and intended to settle down at the foot of Bilian Peak. After Li Zongren learned about it, he bought a house and presented it to Xu Beihong. After Xu Beihong moved in, he called himself "Tianmin of Yangshuo". Mr. Xu Beihong visited Yangshuo twice during the period from 1935 to 1937 and lived there for nearly a year, during which he carried out a large amount of creative work. His famous painting "Spring Rain over the Lijiang River" was painted in "Panzhuang" in Yangshuo. In 1984, the cultural relics department took back the former residence and renovated it. Liao Jingwen personally wrote the horizontal plaque of "The Former Residence of Xu Beihong in Yangshuo".
