Qixingyan

During the Sui and Tang dynasties, Qixingyan was called Qixia Cave. In the Song Dynasty, it was known as Xianli Cave and Bixu Cave. It is located in the abdomen of Putuo Mountain within Guilin Qixing Park, running through from east to west. The entrance is on the southwest side of Tianji Peak, halfway up the mountain, and the exit is at the eastern foot of the mountain. It was originally an ancient underground river channel dating back one million years. The cave has three layers: the upper layer is 8 to 12 meters higher than the middle layer, and the remaining traces can still be identified; the lower layer is 10 to 15 meters below the middle layer and is an underground river channel that is still developing; currently, the middle layer is open for sightseeing. The middle layer is 1,100 meters long (the tour route is 814 meters), with a maximum height of 27 meters, a maximum width of 50 meters, and the narrowest part only allowing a single person to pass through. It covers an area of 1.75 hectares. The entire cave forms an underground corridor in the shape of a string of beads.
