Huangluo Yao Village
Huangluo Yao Village enjoys the reputation of being the "No. 1 Long-haired Village in the World". This is because more than sixty women in the village all have long, jet-black hair that is over one meter in length, and the longest hair reaches 2.1 meters. In 2002, this village even obtained the Guinness World Records certificate for the group with long hair.
After staggering across a long suspension bridge, one can truly enter the village. The local customs and traditions are strongly felt in the village. Most of the photography works themed on long hair require visitors to pay for the shooting themselves. Moreover, visitors can also enjoy the performance showcasing the customs of the Yao Village in the village.
During the tour, one should pay attention to the difference between unmarried and married Hong Yao women. For unmarried women, their hair needs to be wrapped with cloth and cannot be exposed. Only their future husbands are allowed to catch a glimpse of their beautiful hair. For married women, however, their hair buns can be exposed.
