Daxu Ancient Town
Daxu Ancient Town is one of the "Four Great Market Towns" in ancient Guangxi and was first built in 200 AD. The ancient Daxu Old Street isn't very wide. Beneath your feet are the smoothed bluestone slabs, and on both sides, the old houses are mostly two - story Ming and Qing - style buildings made of blue bricks and tiles. Many ancient handicraft workshops, such as bamboo - weaving workshops, straw - sandal workshops, herb - doctor clinics, and old - fashioned barbershops, are still preserved, and the traces of history and vicissitudes can be seen everywhere. The ancient town is extremely quiet. Most of the old houses are left with only the elderly and children, showing an air of being aloof from worldly affairs.
When visiting Daxu, the Wanshou Bridge is a must - go place. The Wanshou Bridge was built in the Ming Dynasty, and the stones on the bridge deck have been polished to a shiny finish. To the west of the bridge is the Lijiang River, which is an excellent location to enjoy the scenery of the Lijiang River and Luosi Mountain on the opposite bank. In the evening, find a seat, feel the river breeze, and taste fresh river fish. It's simple, rustic, and natural.
Daxu Ancient Town has not been fully commercially developed. Those who are fond of ancient charm can go there. It is recommended to combine the visit with trips to Guanyan and the Gudong Waterfall.
